A friend (and one of our favourite clients) gave birth to her daughter about three weeks ago, and I was lucky enough to get to be there in her hospital room. I was surrounded by wonder and cooing and laughter around this tiny little person and got to see the most adorable and energetic little boy I know (big brother Ary-Kyann). It was pure magic. I can’t imagine spending a lovelier Sunday afternoon anywhere else (even though amateur don’t-have-kids-yet me was slightly intimidated by bits of the labour story – hah).
I’d been wanting to do a post-birth session for a while now, and in black and white. (I wanted to go back to where I started with photography — capturing people in real life settings and working only with black and white.) So I’m really grateful to Hidayah and Oli for letting me be a part of this.

The beautiful and radiant Mama. She had gone through hours of labour and hadn’t slept all night at this point, but when I first went into the room and saw her, all I could think was Oh my God, you look amazing.
Oli rocking baby girl and singing her a French song .
Ary-Kyann telling us that his hands are bigger than his sister’s.
Arya-Louanne and her great grandma.
